Rat drawn pumpkin with rider

This amazing piece started life as Pumpkin Pete. It measures 15" tall, 18" from the tip of the rat's nose to the back of the pumpkin, and 9" wide. The pumpkin and little man are cotton fabric stuffed with polyester fiberfill and needle sculpted. The pumpkin has patches attached and was coffee stained. There's a piece of old sad tree branch without bark inserted in the top as a stem. The little man's head has fine detailed needle sculpting and was then painted and attached to his nice round body and sewn to the top of the pumpkin. The little man wears short pants, a shirt and shoes. His Vine arms and legs are green just as most vines are. Then it sat on a shelf and I thought about it for a while. I added wooden axels and wheels that I'd painted black and sanded. And I though about it some more....it really needed something to pull it...6 white mice? No, that was Cinderella. AHA! I made a rat! He's made of muslin with a wired tail, sisal whiskers and bead eyes...don't all rats have beady eyes? I attached wooden thread spool ends that have black and gold JP Coats thread spool labels. The harness is made from wool and wooden lilac twig traces SEWN (yes, sewn) in place. The reins are jute twine.

Skelleton man make do - 106

This "sweet" little make-do is my original design. The base is a 4 inch diameter wood circle with a length of table leg attached for the body. I've painted them black, sanded and stained. The head is muslin I've stuffed with polyfill, painted (I was amazed at myself when I did his face), and stained. The head is sewn to the body. There are wired arms that I drilled a hole through the wooden body and attached with a wire so they're moveable. The hat is burlap, stained and stiffened and he has a cute little orange and black checkerboard necktie. You'll find putka pods and wooden crows glued to this piece with white glue, not hot glue. Primitive Folk Art Witch Delude

Delude is 29" tall to the bend in her hat. She has a very ghostly complexion hasn't she? She does her best work at night so doesn't really get out in the sun and the moon just leaves you pale.

I've made Delude from muslin, stuffed her with polyester fiberfill and enough "ragg" (trimmings from my cutting table and discard bag) to give her bottom weight so she sits nicely. I've needle sculpted her wonderful nose as well as her fingers. She was then stained with a coffee, vanilla mixture and dried. I painted her head and hands with whitewash. when she was dry, I sewed on dark button eyes. and proceeded to create her features with dark pens and pencils. The coloring is permanent. Her hair has broad streaks of white in the gray/brown curls. She wears muslin pantaloons. Her dress is black with a twisted, lacey cumerbund around the waist and beautiful textured black buttons on the bodice front. Her hat is made of canvas with a nice, twisted lace hatband. She has painted, high heeled, "boots" with 5 nice "shoe buttons" sewn onto each. She's signed "designed and made with love, Lucy".

Primitive folk art Jack in the bucket

This is such a great piece of folk art. The fabric jack o'lantern (7" diameter) is hand made of fabric with applique'd features. The features are highlighted with dots of white. I've tied the pumpkin into 3" dimensional segments. He's attached to a slightly rusted heavy black bed spring that's firmly glued (with silicone glue) into the rusted, 5" high by 5 1/2" diameter, paint bucket. The entire piece measures 15 1/2" tall. The hat is hand made of burlap and adorned with faux leaves that I've made primitive and crisp with a mixture of cinnamon, coffee, and vanilla. There's also Spanish moss and a handmade muslin crow and faux berries sewn to the hat. I've tied a rag bow below his chin with a hang tag that has his name on one side. He carries a woven willow basket filled with purchased vegetables that I've painted with a mixture of coffee, coffee grounds, and decoupage medium and then glued into the basket with white glue that dried clear.

29" tall, Gracie Grimm is Mrs. Grimly's friend from the witch's academy. She has the same wonderful needle sculpted, pointy nose, stitched mouth and eyebrows with little button eyes. Her hair is soft curled gray wool from locally raised border Leicester sheep. She has painted "high heeled shoes". Her pantaloons are coffee stained cotton muslin and she wears a beautful black cotton homespun dress that has a hemmed bottom and is topped with a black and white pin striped half apron. She even has stitched fingers and a large black button on the bodice of her dress. The hat is handmade by me with wire inside so you can bend the tip to suit yourself and it'll stay that way. Primitive witchy woman with weed bag

The 24" tall Weed Woman has been out collecting weeds to dry for teas, seasoning and herbal remedies. She is made of muslin. Her head, arms, and legs are stuffed with polyester fiberfill and her body is stuffed with raggs (trimmings from my cutting table as well as clean recycled T shirts and socks).Her nose is sculpted with needle and dark brown thread and her mouth was stitched with dark brown thread. She has very small brown button eyes. Her hair is curly dark gray and brown wool.She wears muslin pantaloons. Her dress was cut from a a piece of light weight gray fabric I found in a box of fabric pieces I purchased at an estate auction.The bag was created from cotton canvas fabric with buttons holding the strap in place. The bag has the word "Weeds" stitched on the front with black embroidery floss and has faux twiggy florals inside. Her hat is made from brown and black woven fabric upcycled from a pair of men's pants. I've wired it so the tip can be bent and posed.Everything has been stained with my coffee/vanilla stain mixture.

Primitive pumpkin head make do w hat and crow

He's 15" tall from the bottom of the base to the top of his head. The pumpkin is 8" in diameter and ribbed. The mouth, nose, and eyes are hand stitched to the head and the whole head was grubbed with my cinnamon/coffee/vanilla mixture. The white hightlights are painted. the hat is made from burlap and decorated with a burgundy sunflower and fall leaves that I've grubbed with my cinnamon/coffee mixture. There's a black and white homespun hatband as well as a handmade muslin crow (paianted and stained) with bead eyes, sweet annie in both green and burgundy, and other dried and faux florals.There's a matching ragstrip tied around the base just under the pumpkin with burgundy sweet annie and faux bittersweet. 16” Stack o’lantern is 3 graduated sized pumpkins made of muslin with stitched ribs and needle sculpted features. The pumpkins are painted as are the features. Each face has it's own individual look.
