This handmade raggedy is designed by Lucy Rox. This beauty is made of muslin with hand embroidered features. She has sewn-on shaggy yarn hair and a bit of blush on her cheeks. She has dark red and white striped fabric legs and black fabric "shoes". She wears muslin pantaloons. Her dress is woven homespun plaid woven in navy blue and ecru with red, white and blue hearts woven into the navy blue and ecru squares. Her pinafore is muslin with a waistband of the dress homespun. Primitive folk art baby horned owl make do

This handmade 7" tall, 3 1/2" wide, baby horned owl has a muslin body and wings. The tummy, eye backs, and head piece are separate layers of coarse, vintage flour sack fabric hand stitched in place. The body is stuffed with polyester fiberfill and stained with my coffee/vanilla mixture. The eyes are rusted bells, stitched in place. The base is wood, made of a round wood base with a length of candlestick attached. There's a hole drilled through the base and the owl is stitched securely to the base.

Primitive Americana star w crow door hanger

Whether it's hung on a wall or a door, this is a good Americana piece. It's 11" wide and 16" high (the wire adds another inch). The star is made of fabric, stuffed with polyester fiberfill. I added a horizontal wire so it holds it's shape, and hand stitched an american flag to the front. I then stained it with my coffee/vanilla mixture.I made a crow of muslin, stained, painted, and sanded it and added bead eyes. He's been hand stitched into the flag pocket along with red and white pip berries, preserved sweet annie, and some rusty stars. There is a rusty wire hangar that is fastened to each side (and it will hold it's shape because of the horizontal wire I metioned earlier in the description).

Fat Black Rabbit w Carrot

This 15 1/2" tall rabbit is actually a little taller but his ears are bent. He's made of cotton flannel and is very round and very coffee stained. He's also painted black and lightly sanded. He has a needle sculpted face (nose and mouth), button eyes, and stitched nose and whiskers. His ears are wired and bend nicely. He even has little stitched toes. He carries a handmade color washed carrot with rag stip leaves and has a ratty, distressed brown tail.He is signed "designed and made with love, Lucy".

Carrot Harvester

This carrot harvester is from my new series of rabbits that stand by themselves. You read that correctly; he doesn't need anything to lean against.He is 19" tall (more if you pull his ear up straight--did I mention they're wired?), 7 1/2" from front to back and 10" wide. His body is made of cotton flannel and stuffed with polyfil. His toes are stitched and his feet are shaped the way feet should be. Then he was stained with my coffee/vanilla mixture. He has hand embroidered nose and mouth, sewn on button eyes, and hemp twine whiskers that are securely anchored so they won't pull out. He has an adorable fuzzy tail stitched to his "butt". The rabbit is securely fastened to a piece of wood that began life as the top of a kitchen table but you won't find any glops of hot glue here...he's fastened in place with my secret (until I get my pattern made) method. He wears a necktie of faded dark red, mustard, and tan homespun plaid. There's a bag slung over his shoulder with his handmade fabric carrots, some sweet annie, and some narrow leafed eucalyptus. There's dark brown felt glued to the bottom so it won't scratch your surfaces.

I've signed the piece "designed and made with love Lucy" in an unobtrusive place where it's still easily visible.

This wonderful chicken is 13" high, 14" front to back and 5 1/2" side to side. (nearly life size). She's made of osnaburg and stuffed with polyester fiberfil. Faith is 28 ½” tall. She is made of a textured fabric and has a stitched mouth and a stitched on patch nose. I’ve stained her with my coffee vanilla stain, painted her black and sanded her so she her skin has a texture similar to coarse leather. She has brown button eyes, stitched in place. Her halo is rusty wire with rusty stars attached.Her head, arms and legs are stuffed with polyester fiberfill and the body is stuffed with clean rag trimmings from my cutting table to give the body weight so she sits well by herself.She wears muslin pantaloons. Her dress is ecru with light brown pencil stripes and is coffee stained.The star is made of mustard fabric, coffee stained and has the work FAITH embroidered with black embroidery floss. It’s stitched into her arms.

Faith has wooden wings cut from the curved top, back of an oak finished kitchen chair. I cut notches into the ends of the wings so they look like ribbon. The wings are stitched to the back of the angel. She has a wire hanging loop on the back of her neck so she can be hung as well as sit.

Meet Irma. She's 20" tall and made of cotton muslin. Her nose and mouth are needle sculpted. She was stained with my coffee vanilla mixture and then painted and sanded. Her hair is beautiful, curly raw wool. Her lips and cheecks are lightly blushed and she has dark brown button eyes. Shea wears muslin pantaloons under a dress of walnut stained fabric in ecru printed with rust colored, brown and green floral motif. the pinafore is rust, gold and brown homespun with terra cotta colored buttons stitched to the front of the bodice.

The Chicken is also handmade of muslin and needle sculpted. It's painted, stained, and lightly sanded.
