Artist Bio

Hi and welcome to my shoppe. I am so glad you visited! I live in Southern West Virginia with my 2 beautiful daughters and husband of 19 years. I have been crafting primitives for about 3 years now, most of which are my own original designs, although I do occasionally find patterns by other talented artists I can't pass up and love to create, as well. I hope you will enjoy your visit and find something you just can't live without! A lot of my items are sold as special orders, which means I craft it for you after you purchase the item. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Right now, I am only shipping to the continental United States. Thank you and Enjoy browsing!

Primitive Folk Art Pumpkin Corn Harvest Doll

Here's an adorably ugly little Pumpkin Head Harvest doll to decorate with for Fall. Crafted from a pattern by Kentucky Primitives, the doll features a round Pumpkin head formed from muslin, stained, sculpted and painted Georgia Clay. It was lightly sanded, and features handstitched eyes and a nose with sculpted brows and mouth. Spanish moss was added to the top of her head, and a branch was inserted in the top for her pumpkin stem.

She has a stained homespun rag stuffed blouse on, and a stained orange homespun skirt gathered at the waist. Her legs and arms are sticks inserted into her body and glued in place. She wears a stained and tattered muslin apron with 2 pockets that is full of "ears of corn".

A grubby cheesecloth scarf is wrapped around her neck and a rusty jingle bell is pinned on the knot, and also as a button on her blouse. She measures 22" in length and comes with a rusty wire hanger inserted in her back for easy display.

Primitive Frank N. Stein Doll with Crow

OOAK Frankenstein doll, perfect to display this Halloween season. Crafted from muslin, he was first heavily stained, then painted a mixture of greens and antique gold, thinned with stain. He has one black button for an eye, and the other is formed from black floss and a separately stuffed nose, stitched to the center of his face. I handpainted his hair, then added hair from black floss overtop of it. He has scars stitched on his face and a sad frown.

He wears a stained burlap shirt and black painted muslin pants, grungied heavily with cinnamon and ripped at the bottom. I pinned two rusty bells to the front of his shirt, and added a stained tag with Frank N. Stein on it. His hands feature painted fingernails, and his boots have "eyes" formed from rusty safety pins. He holds an old grungy crow in his arms while sitting, but can be used separately without the crow hanging up. The crow is grungy with cinnamon and coffee, and has a black french knot for his eye.

Frank comes with a rusty wire hanger inserted in his back for easy display if you hang him, and he measures 32" from head to toe, and is 20" sitting down. His crow measures 15" long. Frank is a one of a kind, original Meadow Fork Primitives design, copyright 2010. Shipping is included in item price.

Primitive Scarecrow Happy Harvest Door Doll

Primitive Scarecrow Door Doll, perfect for your Fall decorating. Crafted from muslin, this little scarecrow features a round head, with handstitched eyes, nose and mouth, and perfectly pinked cheeks using a watercolor pencil. He was formed from muslin which was heavily stained, and wears an old stained burlap hat on his head.

His "straw" hair was formed from raffia, and was glued into place. He wears a stained homespun shirt in oranges and browns, with a kerchief of stained cheesecloth pinned in place. I pinned a rusty bell to the top of his shirt and added a stained tag which reads, "Happy Harvest". The scarecrow has branches inserted in his body and glued in place for his arms and legs. I wired the raffia to the branches for the straw, then tied the openings for his shirt sleeves and pant legs closed with stained sissal rope.

His pants are painted black osanburg, and are held in place by stained sissal rope tied around his waist. I stitched an orange patch to his pant legs, then stuffed raffia down the waist for straw. Last, I added a little grungy painted crow with a black glass bead for his eye to one arm, and let him rest on some sweet annie for a nest. He measures 29" long by 23" wide at his arms. Original Meadow Fork Primitives item, copyright 2010.
